Carlos Vives, Zoe Saldana and Pepe Aguilar, winners of Hispanic Heritage

Washington, (EFEUSA) .- Colombian singer Carlos Vives, the Dominican-born American actress Zoe Saldana and Mexican musician Pepe Aguilar will receive this year's prestigious awards recognizing the Hispanic Heritage Foundation's namesake, which celebrates the contribution of Latinos US.




Hispanic Heritage (HHF, in English) Foundation forward in a statement Thursday the list of winners will receive their awards on 18 September at the Warner Theatre in Washington, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.

In this year also collected awards American basketball former player Bernie Williams and Texas Congressman Ruben Hinojosa.

Carlos Vives receive the "Legend" Pepe Aguilar "Master of Arts" and Zoe Saldana "Vision" award.

For the first time, this year's PBS broadcast the awards on a one-hour special that will be seen across the nation on September 29 at 22:00 Eastern Time.

"The Hispanic community has made significant contributions throughout history and we are proud to recognize this impact. Beyond celebration of success already achieved, we focus on the future. Now more than ever Latinos will play a key role in future of the United States, "the statement said José Antonio Tijerina, president of HHF.

The Hispanic Heritage Awards established the White House in 1987 to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.

Since then, it is considered that these awards are one of the highest honors awarded by Hispanics for Hispanics in the nation.
